Because I have a long commute to work, I bought a laptop to make beats on the train. Problem was, when I got home, I had to transfer all data files via USB or over the network. This led to the pursuit of a better solution.
Everybody is in the cloud these days. The cloud is so hot right now. So I was happy to realize the clouds potential to solve my situation. In the cloud, I can save all my ableton beat files (ALS ), then open them from anywhere and edit them. So everything stays in sync.
At first I was using Dropbox, but have now moved to Sugarsync. Both are great, but the free Sugarsync account has 5GB, which is enough for now.
Anyway, if you are a neat-freak with your data and like to stay organized, then get your head in the cloud.
